Are there certain seeds you’ve found very easy to grow and others a constant challenge?

Different seeds require different needs to grow and thrive. Some seeds need more or less sun. Some need more or less water. Some have specific soil requirements, while others are very hardy and can withstand many conditions.

Depending on the conditions of our heart God will plant seeds accordingly. How fast the seed grows, thrives and bears fruit depends on the nurturing of the seeds that have been given.

Sometimes our hearts have the perfect conditions for growth: Rich soil, perfect sunlight, and just the right amount of water. But to continue the upkeep can become a chore, especially if we do not stay in the joy of the Lord. When your plants are not getting proper attention it is a noticeable eye sore. Discoloring leaves, droopy posture, dry soil- a sad countenance.

We do this to our souls when not nurturing the life and seeds within us.

So how can we keep our spirit flourishing? We must partner with the greatest gardener of all which is the source of life, that is Jesus.

  • We need the water of life “But whoever drinks the water i give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” -John 4:14
  • We need the true source of light “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow”-James 1:17
  • We also need rest or shade “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.”- Psalm 91:1
  • We need the right soil “As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.”- Luke 8:15

We need our gardens to be in order for more to come in. Plant with God, receive His seeds, be patient in seeing your own fruit, and labor for a great harvest to come in due time.
