“For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
2 Corinthians 12:10
This is a hard concept for the world to understand. In the world the strong are seen as greater than the weak, the powerful greater than those without power, and those with heaps of money regarded higher than those with less.
But those who know God know that it is completely opposite in His kingdom.
The disciples argued who was the greatest discipline. Jesus answered them by putting a little child above all the disciples:
“Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” -Matthew 18:4
Jesus chose a child for many reasons. I believe an important factor is children are dependent. They still rely on their parents for food, shelter, comfort; all their needs. Those that submit to God will receive Him in all His glory. Those that lay down their life will receive it. (Matt 10:39)
Now Paul, who wrote the words “…For when I am weak then I am strong.”, was a man who understood tribulation. He wrote of innumerable beatings, imprisonment, being shipwrecked, and in perils of many things (2 Cor. 11:23-28). On top of all that we read of a thorn in his flesh:
“And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.” -2 Corinthians 12:7
And what the Lord said to him concerning this was:
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” -2 Corinthians 12:9
Now the struggle is in the tribulation will you continue to submit to God and do what He asks. When the world brings your weakness to the forefront will you trust His words: “My grace is sufficient for you”. That even in the midst fear, anxiety, sickness, pride, or lust His grace is sufficient!
Praise the Lord! His grace washes over us and makes us new and pure, as a child. Our relationship with God must be constant submission to the Father. This is our confession of an ever-growing need for Him, our transformation to a little child. So that Abba Father may hold all the strength, all the power and all the glory.
We no longer have to live by our own strength, which fails again and again, but by the Lord’s strength. This is the power of the resurrection! Lay down your weaknesses at the cross and rise up in the Strength of the Lord!
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power" -Ephesians 6:10
